Guides have to be more precise and more examinable content to be written, instead of excluding it from the papers and only to be taught verbally. No one can remember everything important detail stated by the teacher and especially lecturers in the university expects the very busy scheduled working adults to do their own research and at this level, we need notes that prep us for exams on our own, with or without the help of lecturers.
